Marilyn Kaye Beaty, 83, of Taylorville, formerly of Morrisonville, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 28, 1943, in Decatur, the daughter of Arlie and Margaret (Goodrich) Bailey.
She married Lawrence “Speed” Beaty on June 21, 1969, in Decatur. He preceded her in death on August 10, 2025. Marilyn attended Brown's Business College before beginning a lifetime of work and service.
Current Situation
Marilyn worked as a clerk for the Macon County Circuit Clerk's Office and later held various jobs that allowed her to connect with people. She sold Bittersweet Candles and Scentsy, served as a life insurance representative for Foresters Financial, and worked as a product sampler at Kroger.
For many years, she babysat up to 10 to 12 children at a time in her home. She was a member of the Christian County Farm Bureau, served as a leader of the 4 Clovers 4-H Club, and volunteered at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary gift shop.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at St. Maurice Catholic Church with Fr. John Burnette officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, August 13, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 3:45 p.m., and Friday from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville.
