PHUKET, Thailand — A massive 15-foot reticulated python was safely removed from a family's garden in Thailand after snake wranglers determined they needed additional help to capture the giant reptile.
The homeowners discovered the snake slithering through their yard and contacted professional snake catchers, according to local reports.
When rescuers arrived, they quickly realized the python was too large for one team to handle and called in reinforcements. Rescue personnel kept the snake from entering the home while waiting for additional responders.
Video of the rescue posted by PEOPLE shows multiple people working together to lift the python and place it into a large bag before relocating it to a remote area away from homes.
Reticulated pythons are among the largest snake species in the world and are native to Southeast Asia. They typically prey on animals such as rodents, birds, cats and dogs. Although attacks on people are rare, experts say the snakes can pose a danger because of their size. Authorities reminded residents not to approach or attempt to capture large snakes on their own and instead contact trained wildlife or emergency personnel.
