Hong Kong cosplayers Ar Lu and Ronnie Kui won the grand prize at the 2026 World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan, on August 2. Their handmade costumes, inspired by the video game Monster Hunter, earned them the top award among participants from 40 countries and regions.
The duo's performance depicted the bipedal cat Felyne and the playable character Hunter battling an ancient dragon, with Hong Kong's Lion Rock as the backdrop.
During her acceptance speech, Ar Lu said, 'Mum, I did it! Hong Kong's the greatest of all time!' Ronnie Kui told the South China Morning Post that he had not dared to consider winning, saying, 'It still felt like a dream when they announced the champions.'
