Trump claimed Iran also requested the United States to withdraw from planned attacks. 'Now what we are doing is talking to them in the form of negotiations,' he said. According to an American official cited by Axios, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman spoke with Trump by phone on Saturday, expressing concern and seeking clarification about the proposed action against Iran.
Earlier on Sunday, Trump said the US agreed to postpone a planned military strike on Iran after Tehran and several Middle Eastern countries requested a halt. He claimed a framework for a potential deal has been prepared. Trump wrote that the US is 'fully prepared and in a position to strike' but agreed to stop the attack 'provided we can make a deal quickly.'
Trump said the proposed agreement would include the immediate and full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the elimination of Iran's nuclear threat. He also claimed Israel supported the decision to pursue diplomacy, saying, 'Israel is with me in this commitment. Everybody get to work and get it done.'
