Young cadets from Northumbria have completed the Nijmegen Marches in the Netherlands, a four-day endurance event held annually since 1909 and the world's largest multi-day walking event.

The Northumbria Army Cadet Force took part in remembrance of troops who liberated the Netherlands during the Second World War, carrying the SSAFA flag and laying wreaths in tribute to the fallen.

Dr Caroline Pryer, chair of SSAFA Northumberland and Lord-Lieutenant of Northumberland, praised the cadets as 'outstanding ambassadors' for demonstrating resilience, teamwork, and commitment.

SSAFA Northumberland supported the team with wristbands presented by northeast regional chair Derek Cross, and the march is part of a broader partnership including annual funding and bursaries for cadets.

Colonel Mike White, commandant of the Northumbria Cadet Force, expressed gratitude for SSAFA Northumberland's ongoing support.
