Meals on Wheels to host pancake breakfast at Dragon Boat Festival

Jamestown Meals on Wheels will host its seventh annual pancake breakfast at the Chautauqua Lake Dragon Boat Festival in Celoron on Saturday, raising funds for senior meal deliveries.

CELORON, N.Y. -- Dragon boats return to Celoron on Saturday, and so does Jamestown Meals on Wheels' largest fundraiser of the year. The organization will host a pancake breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Celoron Park pavilion during the Chautauqua Lake Dragon Boat Festival.

Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, home fries and more, priced at $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Beverages and pastries will be available for $3, and coffee or bottled water for $1. Local businesses have donated goods for the event.

This is the seventh year Meals on Wheels has partnered with the festival. Executive Director Barrie Yochim said the breakfast has become the organization's largest fundraising event, and they are thrilled to return after six successful years.

Proceeds will help fund home-delivered meals for seniors in southern and central Chautauqua County who cannot afford them or can pay only a small amount. The service helps seniors remain at home safely and healthily, Yochim said.

Meals on Wheels of the Jamestown Area delivers heatable and cold meals five days a week across two-thirds of Chautauqua County, with frozen meals available for weekends. UPMC Chautauqua prepares the meals, and delivery is done by paid drivers and volunteers. For more information, call 488-9119.
