On Monday, Cuba's informal currency market showed mixed movements: the U.S. dollar remained steady at 673 Cuban pesos (CUP), the euro declined to about 785 CUP, and the Freely Convertible Currency (MLC) rose to 489 CUP.
The dollar's average rate was 673 CUP, with buying offers near 670 CUP and selling offers at 675 CUP, unchanged from Sunday. The euro closed near 785 CUP, with buying at 780 CUP and selling at 790 CUP, down about 2.5 pesos (0.3%) from the previous day.
The MLC, which exists only in digital form, reached an indicative average of 489 CUP, with purchase references at 448 CUP and sales at 530 CUP, an increase of 10 pesos (2.1%) since Sunday.
Over the past week, the dollar has remained fixed at 673 CUP, while the euro has dropped 5 pesos (0.6%) from 790 CUP a week ago. The MLC has risen 18 pesos (3.8%) from 471 CUP. In the last 30 days, the dollar has ranged between 655 and 675 CUP, the euro between 739 and 790 CUP, and the MLC between 425 and 543 CUP.
The Central Bank of Cuba's official rate for Segment III, applicable to the population, stands at 615 CUP per dollar and 707 CUP per euro. Over the past month, the official dollar rate increased from 585 to 615 CUP, and the euro from 670 to 707 CUP.
