Dubai's most famous robot, Bu Sunaidah, has announced a wedding to a fellow robot named Moza in a social media post. The post, shared by the company that operates the robot, shows a bride in a black abaya with gold trim standing between two men in kandura.
The caption, posted in Arabic with an English translation, opens with praise to God and announces the marriage to 'the most beautiful robot, named Moza,' thanking family and friends who shared the occasion. The post has drawn more than 41,000 likes, over 2,300 comments, and around 109,000 shares in three days.
Bu Sunaidah is a Unitree G1 humanoid developed by SS Lootah Group. It gained national fame after appearing alongside Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum near Emirates Towers and has since become a regular at high-profile events, including the Make it in the Emirates forum in Abu Dhabi in June.
The wedding post has sparked mixed reactions, similar to a previous viral moment in June when the robot appeared to join worshippers for Eid prayer. Some users questioned whether a machine belongs in worship, and the wedding has raised similar questions about the staging of a ceremony as content.
This is not the first robot wedding in Dubai. Last year, Iraqi tech influencer Ali Assem staged a mock marriage to ChatGPT near the Burj Khalifa, and in 2018, an Emirati couple formalized their actual marriage contract through a robot at the Service 1 Centre in Emirates Towers.
