SAN FRANCISCO — Buster Posey may have built a disappointing team for 2026, but his trade deadline moves on Monday were among the best of his tenure as Giants president of baseball operations, according to a column by Dieter Kurtenbach of the Paradise Post.
The Giants, who were 18 games under .500 less than two weeks ago, traded Luis Arraez, Robbie Ray, Tyler Mahle, Heliot Ramos, and Erik Miller for what Kurtenbach called 'legitimately good returns' and 'better-than-expected packages.'
Kurtenbach highlighted the deal sending reliever Erik Miller to the Red Sox for former top prospect Marcelo Mayer as a 'great buy-low move.' He also noted the Giants' recent draft success and argued the team now has a top-five farm system.
The columnist urged ownership to allow a full rebuild, saying the Giants should trade even untouchable players like Jung Hoo Lee and Logan Webb to stock the farm system further. He wrote, 'Monday showed the best thing for the Giants would be a full-blown demolition.'
Kurtenbach concluded, 'Give this man the time and patience to actually build something worth keeping.'
